While there's still no evidence that Yankees relief pitcher Cory Lidle was committing suicide when his plane crashed into an Upper East Side high-rise, the still unresolved (or at least unannounced) issue of who was piloting the plane (either Lidle or his flight instructor, Tyler Stanger, pictured above) will have significant financial consequences for Lidle's family. MySpace Music Player Hacked

MySpace MP3 Gopher is a Windows program requiring no installation, and for those not on a Windows box the author offers an online version that anyone can run. All you need to grab a MySpace song is its "friendID," which is in every URL as a parameter.

Today MetaMachine, Inc. settled with the RIAA, agreeing to pay $30 million to avoid potential copyright lawsuits from the recording industry. RIAA chairman and chief executive Mitch Bainwol said of the settlement, "With this new settlement, another domino falls, and we have further strengthened the footing of the legal marketplace." Along with the pay-out, MetaMachine has agreed to "take measures to prevent file-sharing by people using previously downloaded versions of the eDonkey software," which sounds like disabling the installed software...

Firefox gains share, IE loses!

Mozilla's Firefox gained half a percentage point in market share at the expense of Microsoft's Internet Explorer during August, continuing the steady climb of the open-source browser, a Web metrics firm said.

Firefox now owns 11.8 percent of the global browser market share, said Net Applications, a jump of .5 percent from July's 11.3 percent. Internet Explorer, meanwhile, now accounts for 83 percent of browsers used to surf the Web; that's down from July's 83.5 percent
