Film director Sydney Pollack has passed away.
The great film director, producer, and actor Sydney Pollack died yesterday at 73 years of age, at his home here in Southern California.
Pollack, diagnosed with cancer about nine months ago, died Monday afternoon, surrounded by family, at his home in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles, said his publicist, Leslee Dart. He was 73.

Spider-Man's Mary Jane made the decision to follow in the footsteps of Cirque patients such as Lindsay Lohan and Richie Sambora — after a week of wild parties at last month's Sundance Film Festival. Nancy Grace Takes Her Son Home from the Hospital
A thankful Nancy Grace took her son John David home from the hospital Wednesday.
"Nancy is thrilled that John David will be home for Thanksgiving," her rep Patty Caruso told PEOPLE. "She is praying that Lucy Elizabeth comes home soon, too."
Grace, 48, gave birth to the twins Nov. 4., an early delivery since she had developed a pulmonary edema during the pregnancy. She was released from an Atlanta hospital Nov. 16 and remains on medication.
