Nirvana considered using a stock photograph of a swimming baby, but when that proved too expensive, they hired photographer Kirk Weddle. Weddle’s friends, Renata and Rick Elden, allowed their son Spencer to be photographed for about $200. The hook, line, and dollar were superimposed later. After seeing the photo, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana’s lead singer) and his wife Courtney Love agreed that they would take Spencer out to dinner when he got older.

The song, which is expected to go for radio adds next Monday, will appear on the band's first album since 2000, titled "Zeitgeist", due July 10 via Martha's Music/Reprise.
The PUMPKINS will play their first show in seven years May 22 in Paris. It has still yet to be announced who will join mainman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin in the live band, but the Chicago Tribune recently reported it will be bassist Ginger Reyes and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

Brad Delp (55), the lead singer for the rock band Boston, was found dead on Friday in his home in Atkinson, N.H.
Mr. Delp apparently died alone and that there was no indication of foul play. The cause of death is under investigation and a report is to be released Monday.

Eddie Van Halen spoke to Guitar World magazine about the current status of VAN HALEN following the departures of vocalist Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony.
Rumors continue to swirl that original singer David Lee Roth, who was replaced by Hagar in the mid-1980s, will return to the fold, despite years of enmity. Roth, who has recently worked as a radio DJ and a paramedic, told Billboard.com in May that he saw it "absolutely as an inevitability."

Classic 1978 horror movie HALLOWEEN will return to cinemas this Halloween (31OCT06), complete with a 20 minute documentary that includes interviews with original cast members JAMIE LEE CURTIS, who features in the short documentary, made her big screen debut in the film, which has been digitally remastered in high definition for its 2006 re-release Meanwhile, rocker-turned-film director ROB ZOMBIE will tackle the Halloween franchise next year (07) when he takes charge of the eighth sequel, HALLOWEEN 9.

The RIAA has dropped its case against Chicagoan Paul Wilke, with the two parties moving to dismiss the case with prejudice in federal court late last week. Elektra v. Wilke was noteworthy in that the defendant vigorously contested all of the RIAA's allegations, moving for summary judgment against the record label last month.

Shanghai-based Jay-Z fans, this is just not your day. The Chinese government cancelled Hova's upcoming concert due to the rapper's controversial lyrics.
According to the Associated Press, the Chinese Cultural Ministry is just looking to "protect local hip-hop fans."
The cancellation is being blamed on the fact that "some of Jay-Z's songs contain too much vulgar language."

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been secretly battling hepatitis C — a serious viral infection of the blood, often associated with used needles, the New York Daily News reports.
In an Access Hollywood interview airing tomorrow night, Tyler, 58, admits that he was diagnosed three years ago but "I've had hepatitis C for a long time, asymptomatic."
